Trymaine Lee is a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist who has written for newspapers in Philadelphia, Trenton, N.J., New Orleans and New York City.

Lee is currently a Senior Reporter at The Huffington Post, covering national issues that impact the black community.

Before joining the Huffington Post in March 2011, Lee was a reporter for the New York Times, where he covered the Harlem beat for the newspaper’s metro desk. In the four years that he spent at the Times he covered a number of beats, including general assignment, a stint in Albany covering the State Legislature and the Brooklyn beat. He also spent a substantial amount of time embedded with the Times’ video unit, shooting and editing video for a series called New York On Less, which looked at the many ways New Yorkers coped with the recession.

Prior to joining the Times in late 2006, Lee was a staff writer at the Times-Picayune newspaper in New Orleans, where he was part of a team that won a 2006 Pulitzer Prize for breaking news coverage of Hurricane Katrina. He also contributed reporting to the New York Times’ 2009 Pulitzer Prize for breaking news coverage of the Eliot Spitzer scandal. Lee is a past recipient of the National Association of Black Journalists Emerging Journalist of the Year Award. And in 2011 he was awarded the New York Association of Black Journalists Griot Award for Overall Excellence, an award not given every year, and “is only considered for an outstanding body of work," according to NYABJ.

Lee’s work has also appeared in the pages of Ebony, Essence, Real Health and The Crisis magazines.

In 2006 Lee was awarded the Rowan University Alumnus of Distinction Award. And in 2010 he was awarded the Camden County College Outstanding Alumni Award.

Lee began his career as a police and crime reporter at the Philadelphia Tribune and the Trentonian newspaper in Trenton. He grew up in Chesilhurst, N.J., and attended the Milton Hershey School in Hershey, Pa. He graduated from Camden County Community College with a degree in communications and Rowan University in Glassboro, N.J., with a degree in journalism.
